And suddenly it is February, Christmas is weeks ago and January has blown past us in those many storms with odd names!
Of course, Christmas may have drawn to a halt on January 6th for most of us, but officially the Christmas season continues until Candlemas, on February 2nd. I ‘m not sure whether that means you could have left your tree and cards up until Monday….
We have had some fairly awful stormy wet and windy weather recently and this has obviously made it difficult for some of you to get to church. Let’s hope we see some better weather in the next few weeks, and we can all get out and about safely. .. although it’s only the beginning of February and more wintry weather is forecast…!
We do need to have another gardening morning – or afternoon. There is always work to do in the garden and it’s a good time to tidy up and clear, prune and cut back when we can see the wood for the trees so to speak! We’ll let you know when we are venturing into the garden … The church WhatsApp group is a good way for us to contact you. If you would like to be part of this, please let us have your mobile phone number… and you’ll never miss a gardening session or event ever again!
We held our January church meeting after service last week… and we were quorate… thank you. We were able to finalise the Christmas charity donations.
Antony has bequeathed his house in Twickenham to the church in his will. We are still a long way from all this being sorted through solicitors. We discussed the pros and cons of selling or retaining the property as an asset for the church and decisions on this will be made in the coming months. We will also receive many many books … so many many books, mostly theological….! If you are interested in any please contact us.
So, we continue our way through the church year… it will be Shrove Tuesday very soon, on the 17th and then the beginning of Lent… and then on towards Easter.
What are you going to have on your pancakes? Such a decision to make….!!
Take care, look after yourselves and each other.
