Rev. Antony W. Ball

It was with both shock and sadness that we learnt of the death of Antony in hospital on the 30th of April.

He had been the pastor of our church for over forty years. He first came in 1973 as a new member and was soon involved as a deacon and a lay preacher. This was on top of his full- time work as a teacher of mathematics. Even so, on the 1st of June 1974 he had a service of Induction as a seal of pastorship.

On retirement from teaching, he did further study before being formally ordained as a reverend within the Congregational church. This occurred on the 3rd of August 2003.

Antony served as our pastor until his 70th birthday when he said he would step down although he remained a very active church member. He also continued to preach especially at the evening service. In the past year Antony was finding even this too much and his illness prevented him form attending church in any capacity in the last six months of his life. Spending it at home with occasional visitors.

He will be very sadly missed by us all.

  1. I am saddened to read of the death of Antony. My husband was organist at Isleworth for many years. He died in 2018. I kept in touch with Antony over the years. He will be sorely missed.

  2. We were deeply shocked and saddened by the passing of Reverend Anthony Ball.

A humble, quiet, and private man, he graciously availed himself to serve as a visiting pastor, faithfully leading us in worship over many years until ill health prevented him.

He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and the many congregations he ministered to with such dedication.

May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

From all of us in Hounslow United Reformed Church
