Since our last newsletter we have enjoyed some wonderful warm sunny, some may even say hot weather for several weeks. Let’s hope this continues through the summer months too. As I write this page it has been raining, a welcome relief for the gardens.
Since our last newsletter we as a church have had had to come to terms with the sadness of Antony’s death on the 30th of April. With this of course came the numbness and shock of how will we cope? As Christians we have a sure and certain hope in the resurrection to eternal life, something Antony had a strong faith in. Please read Phil’s separate item on Antony. We as a church of believers must continue the work which Antony did in this place for over 50 years. He cannot be replaced, but each of us must continue the work of bringing people to Jesus through the weeks and months ahead.
During the month of June, we have a few events where the support of you will be important. There is the plant sale in aid of the church on the 7th of June at Sally’s house 134 Woodland Road. On the 8th of June is Pentecost and we hope to have a united service and celebration tea. The tea starts at 4pm with the service at 6pm, all the churches in Isleworth hopefully have been invited. At the service Peter Vanozzi will be preaching, who was also a friend of Antony’s.
Then on Tuesday the 10th of June we will be having the funeral of Antony in the church at 11am. This will be a celebration of his life with another friend of Antony’s, Sue Wade conducting the service. This will be followed by refreshments in the hall for everyone, where we can share our memories of Antony.
We also must continue Antony’s legacy here as said before we cannot let half a century of loyal dedicated work go to waste. Like the phoenix, we must rise and carry on as best we can support our church both by attending services, meetings and events but also by our commitment in giving of both money and time to the continuance of the church.
During the coming months we will be including in the newsletter articles previously written by Antony over the years. They are well worth another read and may help us to appreciate the depth of his knowledge even more. In this issue we have appropriately included articles he wrote for Pentecost and Trinity.
