Deacons’ Page – January 2026

Deacons' Page

Best wishes from the deacons for 2026. We hope you have had a lovely Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The month of December was busy for us here at church, setting up the Christmas tree- thank you all those who helped on that first Sunday in Advent decorating the tree, church and hall it looked lovely.

There was a brief deacons meeting, mainly looking forward to Christmas services and who would be doing what, as there would not be a church meeting at the end of December as usual.

The Sunday before Christmas we had our traditional carols by candlelight in the evening. In the morning Sally, who had organized and written both services. Thank you for your hard work and playing the organ, we managed to have different carols at the two services with a couple of requests and no repeats as far as I remember. The evening service was atmospheric as always with the candles flicking, this was followed by refreshments in the hall which included homemade mince pies by Sally, which is also traditional. It was lovely to see new and old faces in the congregation and in the hall after.

On Christmas Day there was a short service at which 7 people attended, of which 3 were new faces and hopefully they may return. The last service of the year was also small numbers, which tends to be the case at most churches as people are away for the season.

Normal services and events return with the New Year, Bible studies in January will be on the 2nd and 4th Thursday morning only, back in February to the 1st and 3rd. January will also have a church meeting on the last Sunday, 25th after service in the morning. At this meeting we need to agree which Christmas charities we are supporting, the list is in the vestibule.

God Bless you all in this New Year.
