Deacons’ Page – August/September 2026

Deacons' Page

Well, more accurately the Deacons’ Half Page, as August is traditionally our “lazy” month in which no meetings take place and we take a breath and prepare ourselves for the run-up to the next Church year.

We did meet in July, and much discussion took place about our ambitions for renovating the Church building and bringing the fabric of same at least in the 20th century. It will cost us some but time doesn’t stand still, and decay doesn’t rectify itself.

The ongoing saga of Antony’s property remains ongoing, and Church Meeting heard a report on the various probate issues and the impending sale of the building. The wheels of progress continue to grind forward with agonising lethargy, but hopefully the first tentative signs of light are appearing at the end of an extremely long, and somewhat winding tunnel.

Our long anticipated joint service with Hosanna took place afterwards, and a good time was had by all. A spirited service with much “audience” participation made for an interesting change from our usual style of worship, and Isleworth Congregational Church was well represented.

We move into the quiet season with much hope and anticipation, looking forward to our Harvest Lunch (see front cover), preparations for the next Church year – and then, Christmas. Tempus fugit!
