We’re well into Summer – we’ve had several very warm – hot even- spells, when, typically we were all too hot and were waiting for it to cool down! Similarly, we had quite a time with no rain so we all moaned that the garden was too dry and wished it would rain!! We do like to moan about the weather don’t we… don’t worry, in a few short weeks it’ll be very much cooler, darker in the evenings and you’ll be moaning about the cost of putting the heating on! Oh and the Christmas adverts will be on the tv!!
We tried to hold our July Church Meeting on Sunday – after church as is our new custom. However, due to insufficient church members being present we could not hold a church meeting so the gathering was merely a meeting of church members and friends. Nothing could be signed sealed or decided – so we’ll have to wait till September’s meeting (we traditionally don’t have a meeting in August) to make final decisions on such things as a harvest services and supper, gift day dates, charitable donations and of course signing meeting minutes. We need you there!
We discussed those of our congregation with health concerns – Dilys is in a nursing home in Sunbury, unable to move much but still happy to hear of what we are all up to. Trisha does not get out and about much and only then when accompanied. She’s always pleased to see visitors.
We planned for a harvest lunch after the harvest service on September 28th– there will be lots of very tasty food!! We discussed the flower rota which, after a previous “sorting out” now has plenty of room for any of you to choose a Sunday to remember a relative. Please see Caroline if you would like to add to the list. Flowers do cheer the place up don’t they…
We arranged a gardening session to tidy up the church garden – by the time you read this, you should notice a difference along Worton Rd. and in the front of church.
As a congregational church we are all involved in the running of our church – everything that goes on is down to all of us- that includes you… we can’t leave it to the others or hope someone else will do it… Unlike for example the Anglicans, we do not have a group of people or an individual who are in charge and do everything. Congregationalists do it themselves!
We need you – anything that needs doing needs doing by – us – you! Anything from taking services, vacuuming the carpet, cleaning the brasses, visiting the sick, banking the collection, editing and printing the newsletter, washing up,. anything and everything! We need you!
Please!!
We do hope you are having a lovely summer continue to do so and we’ll see you around!
