Deacons’ Page – October/November 2026

Deacons' Page

First may I say that I hope you are all enjoying our ‘Indian Summer’ with which we have been blest. At least it is not as hot as it has been and has helped to ease us into the Autumn. Since our last Newsletter, we are now back to having our church meetings with September’s being last Sunday. It was lovely to see TEN members at the meeting and welcome Rayne to her first, following being welcomed on the previous Sunday with the right hand of fellowship.

On the evening of the 19th, we had our harvest Supper in the hall, which was very well attended with 15 present. Mario’s fish and chip shop locally did us proud, with no wastage of food, only the wrappings! Thank you to all who came and helped to decorate the church for the service in the morning.

The 20th of September was also our Harvest Festival, at which we had a new face leading the service, Edwin Quinlan. Hopefully this may be the first of many visits to our church.

At the church meeting we discussed the many items on the agenda, from the continuing sale of the bungalow to quotes for the renewing of the church heating system, which must wait for the sale as the cost is more than we can afford at present.

We also agreed on two charities to support as part of our Harvest Thanksgiving. These were Tear Fund toilets and Action Aid period poverty.

In any other business, the idea of resuming evening service once a month was suggested. This would be a short communion service with no hymns or sermon. The first will be on the 1st of November, which is also All Saint’s Day, other forms of service were also suggested such as messy church or café church, more information to be gathered. We hope these will be well supported.

Bible studies continue the first and third Thursday each month at 10.30am, new faces always welcome.

Thank you for the used-stamps, two lots have been sent to Kidney Disease UK and the RNIB. Please keep them coming.
