We trust you all remembered to put your clocks back and enjoyed the extra hour in bed!
Our Church Meeting last Wednesday evening was quorate – mercifully we seem to be progressing beyond that quartet of inquorate meetings between February and June, but it would still be great if at least a few more from our congregation would be willing to accept the responsibilities of Church Membership. If you’re considering that, please do ask any of our deacons or Church Members what’s involved.
Two of our deacons, Phil Andrews and Jeannette Butler, were struck by a car on their way home from morning service on 2nd October. Initially both were hospitalised, but Phil seemed to recover remarkably quickly and, although Jeannette hopes to be discharged from hospital next week, her injuries were more serious and will take much longer to heal. Please join us in praying for them both.
At last Wednesday’s Church Meeting, Jemima Ocran agreed to lay our Church’s wreath at the British Legion’s service on Remembrance Sunday – she has done this for us for several years, and we are very grateful. Please do remember that our own morning service on that day will begin at 10.45 am. Also at that meeting we agreed that our Bible Studies (both morning and evening) should continue during December but, as is customary, no Church Meeting.
Our next Church Meeting, on November 23rd, will be the “annual” meeting at which we receive reports from and elect (or re-elect) those who agree to serve our Church fellowship in many and varied ways. Only Church Members can nominate deacons and there will soon be nomination forms in the vestibule which must be signed by both the proposer (who must be a Church Member) and by the person being nominated. Most other roles can be undertaken by anyone with the necessary ability, irrespective of their “status” within our Church – again, please do consider whether God is calling you to serve our Church in some way.
